I know many of us are alike in that if someone does not remind us ahead of time about special events at Smith Mountain Lake, some we’d like to participate in are forgotten until it’s too late. So here is a list of some of the big events and activities coming up in the next few months that you will want to be sure you mark on your calendar. (There are also lots of great smaller events you can find out about on the calendar of the SML Chamber site.)
On April 2nd SML Good Neighbors, Inc. presents “Broadway Encore” at Mariners Landing. It will feature the “Lake Players” a very talented local acting group. All proceeds will benefit the children in the SML Good Neighbors summer camps and nutrition programs. For more info. call 540-297-4900.
The 8th Annual Smith Mountain Lake Business Expo will be held on April 29th from Noon to 6pm. in downtown Moneta. Start your spring with the new Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce event Rockin Brews & BBQ’s, Saturday, April 30thfrom Noon – 5pm in Downtown Moneta. The site of the SML Business Expo will be transformed from tents filled with businesses into tents filled with tasty BBQ and rockin music. A variety of barbecue will be served from North Carolina to Kansas City and everything in between. Admission is $5. Children 12 and under free. Sign up to be a volunteer and receive free admission. The Tom Maynard Memorial Poker Run has nearly 50% of it’s 75 spaces already filled with three months to go before the May 21st event. Seven different states are represented. Go to www.smlba.com to download a registration.
